I dont know about your crab apples. I do suggest to check with your local college horticulture department or nursery/greenhouse and find out about the variety growing near you. All the varieties I have ever seen growing in my area (alaska) have been harvestable for either juicing, jellying, or other uses. Good Luck.
Raw Food Fall Harvest ~ Crabapples & Rosehips
Fall is such a beautiful season and harvesting the fruit off the land is the best way to go for raw living. ~Since adapting the raw food lifestyle 4 months ago, Laura has released 34 pounds. Currently she is 90% raw and still in transition. A medical diagnosis of severe anemia and leukemia prompted the change from a vegetarian diet to a raw food vegan lifestyle. Laura has experienced immense improvement in lab/blood tests as well as in her energy and overall health since switching to raw foods. UPDATE: The anemia is now reversed and cured!!!~

I see you are a friend of a few of my YT friends and came to check out your channel. I can’t tell you how much I love this video. It MADE my day complete. The gratitude of harvest, the sharing of love and fruit from your neighbor, crab apples and romain juice, homemade amazing rose hip powder, pouring and tasting the juice at the end and the love of raw – this all is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Ps was the juice sweet and tart?

i mix the rosehip powder into smoothies. Even as a powder it is granular and dont disolve or mix well. The taste is indescernable.

LIke an apple, more specific a granny smith apple crossed with a gala. Very good. But there are different varieties that probably taste different and some that arent good for eating.

These are much like granny smith apples crossed with gala. Crisp with a hint of tart, just perfect for juice, cider or cooking down for sauce (if we werent raw, right? LOL) I used to make jelly with them years ago for the kids. I live in Alaska. The crabapples are mostly grown for their spring blooms as ornamental shrubs. But I am lucky that the few around us are the larger ones that make good eating!

Pretty sure that is the common name; crabapple. They are usually ornamental trees grown for their spring blooms. They are actually smaller, shorter versions of the regular apple tree with quite a few varieties. The apples are golf ball sized or smaller. Not all varieties are good to eat or juice. But this one is good.

Is crab apple the real name of that fruit? I haven’t heard of those (that I can remember) so I’d like to try and find some here in my area.
